The Stanton, Snowshill, and Stanway Circular Walk is a fantastic adventure for those who enjoy leisurely strolls through the country, historic villages, and laid back pub walks. While out walking the trail, you will make your way through a variety of terrain that features several brief elevation gains throughout the countryside, as you pass through charming village streets that are lined with historic buildings. Don’t forget to pop into The Mount Inn at the start/end point of the route, as the food and views from the garden are incredible!

Route Description for Stanton, Snowshill, and Stanway Circular Walk

Charming villages and the picturesque Gloucestershire countryside await on the Stanton, Snowshill, and Stanway Circular Walk; a fantastic adventure that will expose you to some truly beautiful landscapes set within The Cotswolds AONB. Setting out from the trailhead next to The Mount Inn, you will immediately make your way up a steep stretch of hillside that constitutes the most physically demanding portion of the walk. Follow the trail as it turns to the southeast and passes through the serene expanse of Littleworth Wood before arriving at the village of Snowshill. Take some time to explore this charming local and the 16th Century country house known as Snowshill Manor before turning to the southwest to climb back up the hillside. Here, you will enter into another stretch of forest made up of the Witeway and Lidcombe woods, descending the steep hillside once again on your way to the village of Stanway. Pass by the Stanway House, another 16th Century manor house before turning to the north on the return leg of the journey across the countryside to arrive back in Stanton.

Getting to the Stanton, Snowshill, and Stanway Circular Walk Trailhead

To reach the trailhead for the Stanton, Snowshill, and Stanway Circular Walk from Winchcombe, head northeast on Hailes Street/B4632 for 4.4mi and turn right to continue on for another 0.8 km. Keep straight onto Stanway Road and follow it for 0.5 km before making a right onto High Street. After 0.5 km, turn left to arrive at the car park.
