Huiton Trail
The Huiton Trail is a wonderful hiking route in Crans Montana that leads to the Plaine-Morte Glacier at 2,927 m. While out on the trail you will enjoy extraordinary views of the surrounding, as well as the nearby lakes and natural ponds that supply the region with water. The route comes to an end at the cabane des Violettes.

Route Description for Huiton Trail
The Huiton Trail will first take you to the tip of the Plaine Morte at 2,927 m, where you will enjoy beautiful views overlooking the Valais Alps. Then descending to the west, you will enter the historic site of Huiton, an important place in the fight for the water supply of Greater Lens. From the bottom of the valley, you will cross the foothills via the Col des Gendarmes, where you will descend towards Aziêt. You will then have to climb to 2,500 m to pass the Col de Pochet before reaching the Cabane des Violettes at around 2,200 m. A gondola will take you back to the resort.
Getting to the Huiton Trail Trailhead
To reach Crans-Montana by car, take the exit of the A9 motorway (Rhône motorway) called "Sierre ouest". At the motorway exit, turn left and follow the signs for "Sierre". At the roundabout, turn right. Continue for 500 m, then at the entrance to Sierre, turn left following the signs for "Crans-Montana". The journey takes about 20 minutes. Once you arrive in Crans-Montana, follow the signs for Violettes car park, belonging to the Cablecar company.
