Route Description for Sleepy S Trail
The Sleepy S Hike is a short, but scenic nature walk in the Elk Meadows Open Space Park. Perfect for a family adventure or quick excursion into the fresh air, this path is a connector to the network of trails within the park, so will likely be busy! If you are hoping for a more secluded nature walk, then we suggest heading out in the early morning to beat the afternoon crowds! Note that there are rattlesnakes in the area, so keep an eye and ear out for them as you trek.
Begin your trek along the Sleepy S Trail from the trailhead. From here, the route follows a meadow-cloaked path through the Elk Meadows Park. Travel along the exposed terrain, keeping an eye out for grazing elk! Soon you will encounter an intersection, keep left here. Now the route will guide you beneath the tree coverage of old-growth pines, enjoy the towering trees and appreciate the shade. Hike along this path until you meet the trail’s end at the intersection with the Meadow View Trail.
At this point, you can choose to extend your journey by following either of these routes or you can retrace your footing along the path back to the trailhead.
Getting to the Sleepy S Trail Trailhead
