Route Description for Waldrop North Trail
The Waldrop North Trail is a perfect mellow hike through the woods. This trail is easy to follow and well maintained. Hike through the dense Colorado forest until the trail culminates at Brainard Lake. Turn back at the lake or hook onto one of many other trails in the area to continue your adventure. Note that dogs are allowed on-leash in the summer, but they are prohibited on this trail in the winter months.
Waldrop North Trail departs from the Brainard Lake Winter Parking Lot. Hook onto the Waldrop Trail and stay straight at the first intersection. Continue along the woodland path as it curves back and forth. Other trails will merge onto the Waldrop Trail, stay on this path. Follow the trail as it intersects with the Saint Vrain Creek before meeting a junction. At the junction turn left, diverting you down to Brainard Lake.
In the foreground of the craggy sky-scraping Indian Peaks, Brainard Lake is quite picturesque. Bask in the vista before turning around and retracing your steps back to the carpark.
