    Route Description for Indian Ridge Natural Arch and North Dome Hike

    The Indian Ridge Natural Arch and North Dome Hike is an epic excursion reserved for intrepid adventurers who are not afraid of heights. Wander through mixed pine forests that open up to a sea of granite adorned with unique sculptures and epic overlooks. Note that granite can be especially slippery after rainfall, so exercise caution and keep away from the cliff’s edge. The path is also almost entirely exposed, so be sure to bring plenty of water and sun protection! Additionally, the National Park charges an entrance fee, refer to the NPS website for additional information.

    Embark on your adventure along the Indian Ridge Natural Arch and North Dome Trail from the Porcupine Creek Trailhead. From here, hike south along the North Dome Trail through luxuriant meadows which boast lovely views of the Sierra Nevada Range. After wandering through the meadowlands, you will encounter an intersection and keep left along the trail. At the next junction, you are going to want to take a detour along the Indian Arch Trail up to the Natural Arch and summit. Revel in the sights of the towering granite archway and take plenty of photos, before reconnecting with the North Dome Trail.

    Mind your footing as you hike down to North Dome. Here, you will be rewarded with dumbfounding vistas of Half Dome and vertigo-inducing views of Yosemite Valley. Revel in the grandeur of the landscape and when you are ready, retrace your steps along the path back to the trailhead.
