Route Description for Lower Chilnualna Falls Trail
The Lower Chilnualna Falls Trail is a magical adventure that can be enjoyed by hikers of all skill levels and ages. Trek through magical woodlands adorned with granite outcrops up to the quaint cascades. Perfect for families, the pool beneath the falls is a great spot to cool off. Additionally, this hike can be extended if you want by continuing along the trail up to the upper falls. Scenic and tranquil, there is no reason not to explore this epic trail. Note: the National Park charges an entrance fee; refer to the NPS website for additional details.
Setting out from the trailhead, your excursion along the Lower Chilnualna Falls Trail gradually climbs into the mixed pine woodlands. Enjoy the views of looming pines and let the meditative sounds of the running creek lull you into a state of relaxation. Not long after your departure from the trailhead, you will reach Lower Chilnualna Falls. Explore the waterfall bounded by granite bluffs and dip your toes into the chilly waters. If the waters are calm and the cascades aren’t surging, why not take a dip in the pool below the waterfall!
If you are seeking a longer hike, then climb further up the trail to the Upper Chilnualna Falls. When you are ready, retrace your steps along the route back to the trailhead.
