The Yosemite Creek Campground Hike is not exactly what it sounds like. No, you will not simply be wandering through a campground. Instead, you will be hiking to the wonderful campsites through lush forests along the curves of Yosemite Creek, which feeds one of the world’s most famous waterfalls, Yosemite Falls.

Route Description for Yosemite Creek Campground Hike

Get your daily intake of fresh air and get your heart rate up as you venture the Yosemite Creek Campground Trail. Though not the most demanding adventure in the park, this trail is a welcome divergence from the quintessential granite dome ascents, while still delivering epic views.

Note: the path weaves through exposed and shaded terrain, so wear layers and bring sun protection. Additionally, the route is rocky in areas, so wear sturdy footwear and mind your footing. Children and adults alike will love this scenic trek, but be prepared to get your feet wet crossing the stream! The National Park charges an entrance fee; check out the NPS website for the pricing guide.

Setting out from the trailhead, begin hiking south along the Yosemite Creek Trail. As you make your way through the mixed conifer forest, mind your footing on the granite outcrops that adorn the terrain. Soon the path will approach Yosemite Creek, where you will hear the sounds of the babbling waters as they lull you into a state of relaxation. Eventually, you will have to cross over the stream. Use the boulders as leap pads, but exercise caution as they may be slippery. Continue trekking through the lovely forest until you eventually reach the Old Tioga Pass Road and campground.

Now at the campground, you can choose to venture further down the path along the Yosemite Creek Trail or head back. If you are ready to get back to the trailhead, simply retrace your footing along the route.
