Embarking on the initial leg can be completed in a single morning with minimal challenges. Before setting out from Ferrol, explore the port and the contemporary Magdalena neighborhood. En route, don't miss the opportunity to visit the San Martiño de Xubia monastery, featuring a charming 12th-century Romanesque-style church.
Neda - Pontedeume
Prior to departing Neda, take the time to explore the baroque Santa María church, housing a Tudor-style Christ that arrived in 1550 via a British ship. Upon reaching Pontedeume, a must-see is the 14th-century Tower of Andrade, the sole remaining structure from a medieval fortress.
Pontedeume - Miño
This segment offers a blend of coastal vistas and woodland strolls. Miño, situated along the coast, is renowned for its picturesque beaches.
Miño - Betanzos
During your journey, make sure to stop by the iconic San Pantaleón de las Viñas church along the English Way. In Betanzos, the capital of one of the seven provinces of the ancient Kingdom of Galicia, explore numerous monuments showcasing the town's rich history. Betanzos - Leiro
Transitioning from the coastline, the English Way ventures into the heart of Galicia, passing through numerous quaint villages. Approximately halfway, explore the San Estevo de Cos church. This route encompasses both paved roads and rustic rural paths.
Leiro - Bruma-Mesón do Vento
This segment of the Camino presents the most demanding terrain, reaching the peak of the English Way at 454 meters. As you traverse, you'll pass by traditional Galician churches, chapels, and cruceiros (monumental crucifixes).
Bruma-Mesón do Vento - A Rúa
Your journey will wind through quaint rural villages, meandering past chapels and cruceiros. Notably, in the village of Cruz, enjoy the sculptures of a local artist, including depictions of the Apostle Santiago and a dinosaur, adding a unique artistic touch to your walk.
A Rúa - Sigüeiro
The penultimate leg guides you through rustic landscapes, featuring both rural expanses and well-paved roads, allowing you to relish the lush greenery of Galicia's countryside.
Sigüeiro - Santiago
The final day's walk spans 15 km, ensuring an early arrival in Santiago for ample city exploration. You've reached Santiago, the apostle's ultimate resting place, concluding your journey! Remember to visit the Pilgrim’s Office with your Pilgrim Passport to obtain your Compostela (Pilgrim Certificate).
