English Way (Camino Ingles)

Overview
Whether you are looking for a pilgrimage or just a unique walking tour in Northern Spain, look no further than the 8-Day Self-Guided English Way. Also known as the Camino Ingles, this pilgrimage is a wonderful way to see some of the highlights of Northern Spain.
Follow the traditional pilgrim route of the Camino Ingles from the port of Ferrol to the legendary city of Santiago de Compostela for the experience of a lifetime.
The English Way, or Camino Inglés, got its name because pilgrims coming from England and other parts of northern Europe arrived in Galicia by boat, typically at the port of Ferrol, and began their pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela from there.
Today the route passes through gorgeous rural countryside and a variety of small towns and villages. The religious heritage of the region is clear as you pass many ancient monasteries, churches, chapels, and stone crosses called cruceiros. Complete your journey with your Pilgrim Passport and you will receive an official Compostela (pilgrim certificate) when you arrive in Santiago de Compostela.
This incredible self-guided tour allows you to move at your own pace without worrying about planning accommodations, luggage transfers, and most meals. Your focus is on the journey, not the details. Book your English Way adventure today!

Itinerary for English Way (Camino Ingles)
Arrive in Ferrol
Arrive today in the city of Ferrol, and the Atlantic coast of Galicia in Spain. This is the starting point for your hike on the English Way. If you have time, a visit to the Port of Ferrol is highly recommended.
Ferrol to Neda
This first stage is short and flat. It runs mainly through urban areas and parallel to the estuary. There are no big climbs or complicated sections.
Neda to Miño
Today you’ll cross the city of Fene, as you press on towards Pontedeume. As Fragas do Eume, an Atlantic forest of significant ecological value, stands out as you finally reach Miño. This stage unfolds close to the main roads, featuring gentle hills and an exciting transition from the mouth of Ferrol to the mouth of Ares!
Miño to Betanzos
Today you’ll enjoy a short and leisurely walk to Betanzos, mostly traversing picturesque rural areas. The most difficult point on today’s journey will be the climb from Ponte do Porco to Montecelo. Afterwards, reach Betanzos, a beautiful medieval town known for its delicious omelets!
Betanzos to Hospital de Bruma
Today you’ll face the most difficult and complex stage of your English Way Camino. As you move away from urban centers and estuaries to walk several kilometers in nature, you’ll no doubt enjoy the peace and solitude that the trail affords you today. Surrounded by forests and shrubs, you cross steep terrain and small villages until you reach Mesón do Vento. Carry on until you reach Hospital de Bruma, which is located a couple kilometres away.
Hospital de Bruma to Sigüeiro
Compared to the previous day, you are presented with a relatively simple and flat route today. The area where this stage unfolds consists of asphalt and dirt roads, with plenty of lovely viewpoints along the way. On arrival in Sigüeiro, you’ll be greeted by a warm village atmosphere in this small community on the banks of the river Tambre.
Sigüeiro to Santiago
Your last stage today will be a highlight of your journey on the legendary Camino de Santiago! Today you reach the longed-for Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. The number of pilgrims increases significantly as you approach your destination today, contributing to the rising excitement and anticipation.
On arrival in Santiago, you’ll first go through an industrial area, but the magic recovers as soon as you enter the historical center, where you can gaze upon the towers of the cathedral as you celebrate the completion of the English Way!
End of your Camino Ingles
Sadly, your English Way walking tour has come to an end. After breakfast, check out of your hotel and begin your travels from Santiago de Compostela.
