Day 1 Arrive in Villach

A wonderful tour awaits! You will make your own way to Villach, Austria, to find your hotel and settle in. Find a nice restaurant in town and indulge in a welcome feast.

Day 2 Ride around Lake Faak

Time to hop on the bikes! Leaving Villach behind, you’ll pedal in towards a gorgeous gem of a lake, Lake Faak (Faaker See). It’s a stunning turquoise colour and as warm as the Mediterranean Sea. Care for a dip?

Ride along the cycle path to your home for the night in Rosegg/Mühlbach.

Day 3 Pedal to Lake Klopein

Today‘s cycle tour along the Drau Cycle Path (awarded 5 stars by the ADFC) is mostly flat here, often directly on the Drau and through unspoilt nature to Lake Klopeiner See, one of the warmest bathing lakes in Carinthia. Leaving Rosegg/Mühlbach, you’ll ride through the picturesque Rosental Valley. It’s a long ride today, but it’ll be worth it as you can add some cultural activities to your excursion, including a canoe tour or visit to the gunsmith museum.

Ride through a deep gorge surrounded by rocky outputs and keep your eyes peeled for the 26-metre high Tschauko waterfall. Your hotel at Lake Klopein (Klopeiner See) awaits.

Day 4 Bike via Klagenfurt to Velden

Wake up and head out for another awesome day of biking. Today’s route is relatively flat and leads right to the provincial capital of Carinthia. Stop midday to explore this beautiful medieval town before setting off again. Continue to the biggest lake in Carinthia, Wörthersee, then choose your route option from here. You can either ride along the north shore or through an unspoilt valley with four additional lakes to admire. Either way, you’ll end up in Velden for the night.
If you want to spend more time in Klagenfurt, you can also shorten your cycling route on Lake Wörthersee by taking a train ride or one of the Wörthersee boats (tickets are not included).

Day 5 Return to Villach

The first section today takes you back along the Drau cycle path, past the Silbersee lake in the direction of Villach. Shortly Villach, you turn off towards Lake Ossiach, where you will soon see the ruins of Landskron Castle towering high above the countryside. Idyllically nestled in the surrounding mountains, inviting bathing resorts welcome you. and you cycle past the romantic Ossiach Abbey and through the Bleistätter Moor. The dark green colour of the water is something special. You will cycle around Lake Ossiach and then return to Villach - the starting point of your enjoyment cycling tour Carinthian Lake Loop East.

The best time to travel to Carinthia for biking is during the spring, summer, and early fall (May-September).
