Night 1-4
Hotel in Calella
Enjoy the scenic town of Calella as your first home base on the tour. You’ll either be in a hotel in town or near the sea depending on your booking.
Revel in the Costa Brava, centring your exploration around Calella and Cadaqués
The Costa Brava needs little introduction, and this walking tour reveals what makes this stretch of Spain’s coastline so magnetic. The Costa Brava: Calella de Palafrugell to Cadaqués centers you in Calella and Cadaqués as you walk the coastline, giving you insight into both the village life and natural wonder of this area.
Set out into protected natural reserves, seeing what the coast was like before anyone made it their home. Walk alongside coves too turquoise to believe, taking a dip into the welcoming water as you please. Climb up to ancient monasteries perched atop the countryside, where centuries of history lay right before your eyes. After each day of walking, you can return to Calella and Cadaqués, towns that have captured the hearts of visitors as long as they’ve existed. The Costa Brava: Calella de Palafrugell to Cadaqués is a can’t-miss experience for anyone visiting Spain!
Your tour begins upon your arrival in Barcelona or Girona, from where you’ll transfer to Calella de Palafrugell. This seaside town is part of the Costa Brava, a top draw for visitors to Spain. Spend the day enjoying the red-roofed town, or head to the fantastic beach.
Loop your way through the Natural Area of Castell-Cap Roig, which has some of the best-preserved landscapes of the Costa Brava within its borders. You’ll cross trickling creeks and pass magnificent beaches. Stop in at Es Castell, a beach with Iberian ruins to appreciate (and a very inviting ocean!).
You’ll walk back to Calella through the seaside woods.
Begin today with a transfer to Begur, heading off into the forest. You’ll pass lots of coves characteristic of this area, small rounds carved out of the shoreline where turquoise waters and white sand await. Enjoy gorgeous views of the Mediterranean as you walk, stopping into nearby villages to stroll or snack.
You’ll loop back into Calella and have the rest of the day free to enjoy the town.
Today gives you the opportunity to appreciate the years and years of history and culture that make the Costa Brava so special. Start by walking to Peretallada, a prime example of medieval architecture, with tall stone towers rising over you as you walk its narrow streets. Have a coffee in its fortified centre before heading off to Pals. This old town offers fantastic views from the top of the village, where you can appreciate the architecture with a birds-eye view.
Leaving Calella behind this morning, you’ll be driven to Roses to begin the day’s walk. It’ll be a day of contrasts today, with the teeming Cap de Creus Natural Park and its wild scenery leading to Cadaqués. This whitewashed town was a favourite of both Picasso and Salvador Dali. in 1920, Dali remarked: “I have spent a delightful summer, as always, in the perfect and dreamy town of Cadaqués. There, alongside the Latin sea, I have been quenched by light and colour.”
Soak up the beauty of this perfect and dreamy town during your first evening here.
You passed through Cap de Creus yesterday, but today gives you plenty of time to really soak up this special area. Let the breeze off the Mediterranean cool you as you trek over the rocky coastline. This rugged park feels truly untouched by civilization, and you’ll surely love your little escape into the Costa Brava as it was prior to any human intervention.
Once you’re done snapping photos of the dramatic cliffs, head back into town for another evening spent as you like.
Today, travel southwest to the Sant Pere de Rodes cloister, dating to the first century. Christians regard this monastery as one of the most important in Spain, but everyone can appreciate its beauty and architecture. From here, you can optionally choose to continue up to the ruins of Castell de Sant Salvador, which offer you a great view over the Albera Mountains, Cap de Creus, the Bay of Roses, and the Pyrenees beyond.
Tonight is your last in Cadaqués, so make sure you find a great little tapas bar to celebrate in.
So long, Costa Brava! If you don’t think you’ll be ready to leave, you can pre-book additional days. Otherwise, it’s off to the airport to depart.

I’ve been using 10A route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10A made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
