Explore the best hikes in Patagonia on a guided trekking adventure
Join this guided 8-day guided hiking adventure through Argentina’s Patagonia region. This tour takes is some of the best hiking of Los Glaciares National Park near El Chaltén, while also stopping at the incredible Perito Moreno Glacier.
Hike your way to majestic views of the mountains Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre and the spread of massive panoramic vistas in between.
Lose yourself in the stark natural beauty of the Patagonian landscape as you embark upon a guided tour of some of the most amazing country in the world. Visit aquamarine, glacier-fed lagoons and see the monumental mountain spires jutting from the jagged ice flows. Get up close and personal with Perito Moreno Glacier and hear, feel, and see the giant ice chunks that break off its face and tumble into the blue waters beneath. Don’t miss this chance to get intimately acquainted with nature’s wonders!
Get met at the airport and transported you into El Calafate. Feel free to enjoy the town before dinner and then get a good night’s sleep before your hiking adventure begins tomorrow!
Today you’ll start with a 220 km transfer to the town of El Chaltén, located just below the mountains of Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre. It may be a long drive, but you’ll be stopping halfway to stretch your legs and indulge in some local coffee and pastries. Once you reach El Chaltén you’ll begin your guided trek. You’ll only have to carry what you need for the 3-day journey, as you can leave the rest behind and it will be delivered on day 4. As you begin the hike, you’ll ascend a gentle slope along the Fitz Roy trail until you come out above the River de las Vueltas Valley. From there a couple hours hiking will bring you to various viewpoints of the stunning mountain scenery. Two more hours will bring you through forests and bogs to your first Camp, which boasts a majestic view of all the Fitz Roy mountain group thrusting up from the glaciers around them.
Your day of hiking begins by chasing the first light of morning up the trail as it shimmers, pinking the granite faces of Fitz Roy. You’ll hike along the Fitz Roy trail over Cerro Fitz Roy to Rio Blanco. From there a steep one-hour trek will bring you to Laguna de los Tres, one of the most stunning viewpoints within the park. Bask in the beauty of aquamarine waters gleaming beneath the towering peaks of the Fitz Roy mountain group.
Today your guided trek starts off to the south as you make our way along the Hija Valley down into the Fitz Roy river valley. There you’ll find the Cerro Torre trail and make your way through a beech forest and shrublands, finally arriving at Laguna Torre. Here you’ll enjoy spectacular views of Grande Glacier carving along the west side, while it’s quite common to find icebergs herded by strong winds onto the coast of the lagoon. Standing sentinel over all: the elegant spire of Cerro Torre jutting 3128 meters into the clouds with the picturesque peaks of the Adelas hovering in the background. You’ll return to El Chaltén in the afternoon via Cerro Torre trail.
Today you’ll be headed to some of the most coveted panoramic views of the El Chaltén area! The hike will bring you to viewpoints overlooking Fitz Roy, Cerro Torre, various glaciers and lakes. From the summit, you’ll see Paso del Viento with several peaks there sticking out of the Patagonian ice field. You’ll arrive back in El Chaltén by late afternoon.
In the morning you’re free to spend time exploring El Chaltén and taking advantage of any optional excursions you’d like to do in the area. After your day of leisure, you’ll return to El Calafate in the late afternoon.
This portion of your trekking adventure may very well be the favorite as you journey to see the incredible Perito Moreno Glacier, one of the world’s natural wonders. This is glacier flows down from the Patagonian icefield, which is the third largest in the world. You’re going to be one of the lucky few to see the glacier’s closure and rupture process as this is the only glacier in the world having the special conditions needed to see it.. Experience the awesome power of the glacier as you hear the roar and crash of ice chunks falling within it, or into the turquoise water of the lake below.
After breakfast you will be taken to the El Calafate Airport for wherever your journey takes you next!

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
