Spend 12 days immersed in the natural and cultural wonders of Nepal's Langtang Valley
If you want to take a trekking tour in the Himalayas in Nepal, but don’t have time to take a several-week expedition, this Langtang trekking tour is the perfect solution.
The Langtang Trek gives you the chance to see many of the region’s majestic giants, including Annapurna and Manaslu, with only 6 days of trekking. You’ll stay in Sherpa villages and have opportunities to interact with local people. There is even a cheese factory along this route that you can visit.
As you trek through the Langtang valley, you’ll have the chance to climb to the Langtang glacier as well as the beautiful summit of Kyanjing Ri. Notice the varied landscape as you climb in altitude. From lush forests and grazing pastures to rugged moraines and peaks, there is diverse vegetation and wildlife in this area. You may even be able to spot an endangered red panda during your trek. Trekking in the Langtang valley is simply magical!
Before and after your trek, you’ll explore Kathmandu, the capital city of Nepal. Take a guided tour of some of the most important historical, religious, and cultural sites in Kathmandu and the surrounding area. Even the scenic drive between Kathmandu and Syabrubensi, where your trek begins and ends, is fantastic. You’ll love every minute of this Langtang trekking adventure!
Welcome to Nepal! Fly to the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu where a representative from your tour will meet you and escort you to your hotel. At the hotel, you’ll meet your guide and be briefed with more details about your tour. Then enjoy a traditional Nepali welcome dinner!
Begin your day with breakfast at your hotel, then take a guided sightseeing tour of the Kathmandu Valley, exploring many incredible landmarks of this vibrant city. First, visit the well-known Buddhist temple Stupa Swayambunath, which is also called the Monkey Temple. You’ll get an inspiring view of the mountains and the surrounding Kathmandu Valley from the temple, which is high on a hill. Stupa Swayambunath is the oldest and most mysterious shrine in Kathmandu, and it attracts tourists and Buddhist visitors from all over the world with its sparkling gold spire and distinctive white dome. After this, drive to Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple on the Indian subcontinent, and the crematorium beside it. Finally, you’ll also tour Patan Durbar Square, where you can see many historically significant temples and palaces from centuries past, each an excellent example of traditional Nepalese architecture.
After an early breakfast, begin the long drive to Syabrubensi. Along the way, you’ll see many scenic villages as you travel an exciting road. Each time you crest a ridge, you’ll find a new incredible view of the Himalayas. Your guide will point out Annapurna, Ganesh, Manaslu, and many other famous peaks in this Langtang region. Spend the night in Syabrubensi (1,450 m/4,757’).
Begin your trek today with a trail that climbs gradually as it follows the Langtang Khola stream. This trek will astonish you with the beautiful landscape and breathtaking scenery at every turn along the way from Syabrubensi to Lama Hotel. Spend the night in Lama Hotel (2,480 m/8,136’).
Start your day with a good breakfast, then follow a steeply climbing trail that continues to follow the Langtang Khola stream through a lush, green forest. The valley gradually widens and you’ll see temporary settlements that cattle herders use when they bring their cattle here to graze in the summer. Eventually, the trail begins to descend again toward a monastery, then you’ll reach the Langtang National Park headquarters. Spend in the night in Langtang (3,541 m/11,617’).
Continue your gradual ascent today as you pass through yak pastures and small villages such as Mumdu and Sidum. The lovely trail will cross glacial moraines and several small streams before leading you to the Kyanjing settlement. You will have time here to explore the village and surrounding area, which is well-known for making cheese and curd. Spend the night in Kyanjing Gompa (3,900 m/12,795’).
Take a day trip today to Kyanjing Ri. Get an early start and enjoy the fantastic overlooks of the Langtang region’s famous peaks, which are available all along the trail today. Stop at the summit of Kyanjing Ri (4,773 m/15,659’) to enjoy the panoramic views, then follow the same trail to return to Kyanjing Gompa. You’ll have the opportunity to visit a government-run cheese factory and a small monastery along your trek. Spend a second night in Kyanjing Gompa.
Retrace your steps today as you follow the Langtang Khola stream back to Langtang village, then continue along the trail to reach Ghoda Tabela. Most of the day will be spent trekking downhill as you descend from Kyanjing to Ghoda Tabela, but the mountain views continue to be spectacular. Spend the night in Ghoda Tabela (2,972 m/9,751’).
Leave Ghoda Tabela after breakfast and trek for 5 hours or more as you descend to Syabrubensi. Notice the lush green vegetation that surrounds you as you trek downhill for most of the day. It is another day full of inspiring views as you return to the beautiful village of Syabrubensi.
Return to Kathmandu today with a long but scenic drive through beautiful landscapes. You will see many traditional villages and gain a broader perspective of Nepal as you leave the mountains and drive through the countryside to the capital city.
Today is a relaxing day in Kathmandu with no specific itinerary planned. This extra day is included in the schedule in case of weather delays. If everything has gone smoothly, today is simply a free day to explore Kathmandu at your leisure. Your guide can recommend points of interest or shopping areas that you haven’t seen yet, or you can choose to simply rest and relax before your journey home.
Sadly, your Langtang Trekking Tour has come to an end. Depending on your flight time, you may have some time available to explore before it is time to return to the airport. Options include souvenir shopping or exploring more cultural sites around the city. When it’s time to leave, an airport representative will escort you to the airport and help with any final details. I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.
