Visit Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley while staying in Cusco
On this exclusive Machu Picchu and Sacred Valley tour, you will enjoy memorable experiences as you explore one of the historically richest locations in the whole world. You will discover the magnificent Imperial capital of Cusco, full of magical heritage of Inca’s ancestral civilization. Take an adventure to the mystical Sacred Valley – a valley covered in beautiful archeological sites that mark a gateway to the Inca Trail – an ancient route to Machu Picchu.
The highlight of this tour awaits you on the third day of this tour – you will have a chance to embrace the mystery of the world-famous Sanctuary of Pachacutec at Machu Picchu. And all in just 4 days!
After the arrival to Cusco, you will be transferred to your hotel. Today you will also have a welcome meeting for a quick briefing of your upcoming days, which will be organized by your guide.
Your busy day starts with a tour of Maras, Moray, and Ollantaytambo when you’ll be picked up from your hotel in Cusco at around 08h00. First, you’ll head to magnificent Moray, the Inca agricultural laboratory. It takes about 1.5 hours to get there, but you’ll be driving through spectacular Andean scenery, passing by yellow wheat fields, picturesque traditional villages, and snow-capped mountains.
After exploring Moray you’ll head on to Maras, which is just two miles away. Here we’ll see the amazing salt evaporation ponds, which were used by the Incas and quite possibly by pre-Inca civilizations. After lunch in a restaurant, you’ll reach the wonderful Inca town and the archaeological site of Ollantaytambo.
You’ll see the extent of the water system when you return to the town, where fast-flowing water channels built by the Incas are still in use today. Walking to the town square, you’ll have great views of the ruins above us, as well as Inca granaries and storehouses built on the sides of the surrounding mountains. Here you can also watch the daily life of Ollantaytambo, where many of the locals still wear traditional dress.
After Ollantaytambo, which is the last destination on our Sacred Valley tour, so now it will be time to head back to Cusco, where you’ll drop off at your hotel.
Your full-day trip to Machu Picchu begins early in the morning when you’ll pick you up from your hotel in Cusco, from where you’ll travel to Aguas Calientes.
From Aguas Calientes, a short bus ride awaits and you’ll arrive at the gates of Machu Picchu. You and your highly knowledgeable guide will enter the Inca citadel, and you’ll set off on your three-hour guided tour. You’ll see all the most famous and spectacular parts of the extensive archaeological complex. These include the House of the Guardian, the Intihuatana, the Temple of the Sun, the Sacred Plaza, and other key locations. And as you walk around, you’ll have spectacular views of the agricultural terraces of Machu Picchu and across to the surrounding mountains and plunging gorges.
After the guided tour, you’ll have more time to explore Machu Picchu on your own.
Later, in the afternoon, you will leave Machu Picchu and take the bus back down to Aguas Calientes, where you can have lunch in one of the many restaurants (not included). Then you will board the train back to Ollantaytambo. When you arrive in Ollantaytambo, you’ll be there to pick you up and take you back to your hotel in Cusco.
After breakfast enjoy your last day at leisure before transferring to the airport for your return flight home via Lima.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
