Start your pilgrimage along Saint Francis Way in Città di Castello, which encompasses an array of architectural wonders: Palazzo del Podestà, Cathedral of San Florido. Do find time to enjoy a dish of white truffle before you go.
Trek from Campanile to Pietralunga
After a fulfilling breakfast, take a quick transfer from Città di Castello to Campanile, where your walking journey begins. Meander through the hushed woods before reaching Pietralunga, a village layered with history and narrow roads. Opt to get dropped off a little further along the path if you want to walk less than 15 km.
Reach the historical Gubbio
Enjoy breakfast before lacing up your walking shoes for another day where history and landscapes beautifully collide to form a remarkable 18 km trek. Pass by the abbey of San Benedetto, which harks back to the 12th century. At the end of your walk, you will take a taxi to Gubbio. Admire the preserved medieval architecture layering the slopes of this town. Spend the night at your hotel in Gubbio.
Walk to Valfabbrica
Get ready for the longest trek of this self-guided tour. This 23 km journey will take you along the hills, offering magnificent views as you go. Eventually, you’ll encounter Mt. Sibillini— these snow-capped peaks are members of the Apennines mountain range. Continue on through the lush, rolling valley of Sentiero Francescano before stopping in Valfabbrica, a former fortress during the Middle Ages, for the night. Marvel at the remnants of ruins dotting this commune.
Trek to Assisi
Pass through and by a myriad of landscapes and monuments today: woods, fields, quaint country homes, and churches. Admire the snow-swept peaks standing like a faded sketch in the background.
