Karelia Dogsled and Snowmobile Tour Itinerary
Day 1 Snowmobiling in Veshkelitsa
This morning, you’ll arrive in Petrozavodsk and have breakfast before heading to the start of the snowmobile expedition. After an equipment check and safety briefing, you’ll depart on a thrilling ride through snow-laden forests, ending up in Veshkelitsa, a village on the shores of Lake Syamozero.
Lunch will give you a taste of traditional cuisine, and you’ll get to hear some local folk music. In the afternoon, you’ll be taken to your hotel on the shores of the lake. You can relax and perhaps try a banya – a traditional Russian steam bath.

Distance: 4 hours, 80 km on snowmobiles

Day 2 Dogsledding Excursion
After breakfast, you’ll head over to the nearby sled dog centre. Once you’ve listened to the instructions and safety briefing, you’ll set off on your dogsled drive through the surrounding forests! The highlight of this experience is riding the sled across a frozen lake- you’ll feel like you’re in a movie.
Take a break to enjoy some hot tea and the peaceful wilderness. After lunch, if you wish, the group can visit Kivach Waterfall, a large cascading waterfall in a nearby nature reserve. Dinner is back at the hotel, where you can warm up in the banya if you wish.

Day 3 Kizhi by Hovercraft
Today you’ll visit Lake Onega, one of Europe’s largest lakes, and take a hovercraft to Kizhi Island. Kizhi Island is an astonishing place, home to several masterpieces of Russian architecture, including two 19th-century domed wooden churches and a wooden clock tower which were built entirely without nails.
The trip ends after a picnic lunch. You will return to Petrozavodsk so you can board your train to depart.
