Route Description for Chocolate Drops Trail
The Chocolate Drops Trail is an easy to moderate hike through the Maze District in Canyonlands National Park. Access to this trailhead does require a vehicle with 4WD and high clearance. This hike does not have a lot of shade along the way so wear good sun protection and bring lots of water. The Chocolate Drops themselves are bizarre looking towers of Organ Shale that bear a closer resemblance to a Hershey's bar than to a chocolate drop; but either way, a hike to these fascinating formations is definitely worth it.
From the trailhead, follow the cairn-marked path north to the chocolate drops.
Spend some time exploring this unique and spectacularly beautiful area before turning around and following the same route back down to the trailhead.
