Hall Ranch
Hall Ranch is one of the best mountain bike trails along the Front Range! This MTB trail has a little bit of everything with fast and fun flowy downhills, steep and strenuous hill climbs, and challenging technical rock gardens. Hall Ranch is a must do!
McKenzie River Trail (MRT)
The McKenzie River Trail is a popular mountain bike trail near Bend that has been called North America’s best single-track. Though a bit of a drive from Bend, this thrilling trail through lush temperate rain forest and magma rock will please all mountain bikers!
Tiddlywinks
This popular trail is the king of variety. With a bit of cross-country riding, a short climb, extremely flowy downhill and some technical riding, this trail will please all mountain bikers. The middle section of the Tiddlywinks trail, however, is best known for its man-made berms and tabletop jumps.
Betasso Preserve
Betasso Preserve is a great all-around MTB trail with enough challenges to keep it interesting and test your riding skills. The trail is located conveniently close to downtown Boulder, it is a must do, and one of the best all-around MTB trails we know!
Whoops Loop
Bend’s own “A-Line”, Lower Whoops Trail is the quintessential downhill flow trail of the area. You’ll find plenty of mountain bikers on this trail, but it’s easy to see why. With a chill logging road climb and fantastic berms and tabletops to huck on the way down, it’s easy to spend all day cycling Whoops.
West Magnolia
West Magnolia is a spaghetti network of trails that will test your riding abilities along with your navigation skills, but the riding is totally worth the ‘fear of being lost in the woods’ …it’s an adventure!
Tyler’s Traverse
A favorite mountain bike trail amongst locals, this classic shuttle run is more technical than its brother Tiddlywinks. Though this trail definitely has its fair share of flowy berms, there are many more rock gardens than most of the trails around Bend. Truly an old school mountain bike trail.
Smith Rock Summit Trail Loop
Smith Rock State Park is popular with hikers and bikers for a reason! The towering cliffs and the lush Crooked River are candy for the eyes. And the riding isn’t too bad either, though you will have to contend with a few hikers on the trail to get to the goods.
East Mag Dot Trails
Riding The Dot Trails feels like you have your own private MTB trail! The Dot Trails are a hidden gem with great riding and amazing views just outside Nederland.
Phil’s Trail
The namesake trail for the popular Phil’s Trailhead in Bend, this mostly one-way trail is a classic mellow descent. With plenty of fast sections, a few small jumps, and a couple small rock gardens, this is a fantastic trail for aspiring mountain bike riders to test their skills.
Peterson Ridge Trail
The Peterson Ridge Trail system, with its roughly ladder-like shape allows for a ride of any length. You can follow one of the ‘rails’ as far as you like, and then traverse across one of the many ‘rungs’ to descend the other ‘rail’ back down to your car! Perfect for families and aspiring cross country bike riders. Plus, it isn’t too far from Bend.
Heil Valley Ranch
Heil Valley Ranch is a popular MTB trail just north of Boulder that boasts semi-technical rocky trails in a picturesque setting. The halfway point of Heil Valley Ranch is one of our favourite overlooks, definitely take a moment to stop, catch your breath, and take in the view!
Suttle Tie and Loop
An easy bike ride in a beautiful environment, the Tie trail connects the parking lot to Suttle Lake, where the Loop Trail will bend in and bring you around the lake. A popular ride with children, or for cross country training.
Ben’s Trail
Recently switched to a one-way, uphill only trail, Ben’s near Bend is the quintessential cross-country climbing trail from Phil’s Trail. Don’t worry, short descent and fun features frequently break up the gentle climb. A plus is you won’t see as many bikes on this trail.
South Sourdough Trail
South Sourdough Trail is a ride at altitude! Starting at 2,804 m with a climb right out of the gates this is one to be acclimated for, but don’t let that put you off. This is one of our favourite treed mountain rides, travelling through the Roosevelt National Forest - it’s a beautiful, peaceful challenge.
Kent’s Trail
Another classic mountain bike trail of the Phil’s Trailhead complex, Kent’s trail can be ridden either as a climb or as a descent. It's easy to add this trail to your day at Phil's. We enjoy doing this as a mellow descent after a few loops of Whoops, or as a climb if you get bored of Ben’s.
Marshall Mesa – Doudy Draw Loops
The Doudy Draw Loops ride along the base of the iconic Boulder Flatirons making it impossible not to stop and take a picture! This fun ride incorporates a bit of everything the area has to offer any Mountain Biker - a bit of a climb, stunning views, a bit of a cruise, and some fun and fast downhills - a must do when in the area!

Walker Ranch Loop is breathtaking… in both sense of the word! The trail runs through some amazing terrain with breathtaking views around every corner. But, there are also breathtaking hill climbs that leave you, well, breathless!
North Boulder Valley
North Boulder Valley is a fun cross-country trail perfect for ripping around on your gravel grinder or cross bike. We love it because it is pretty much accessible year-round, with few trees and lots of sun exposure it dries out fast and its quick to get to if you don’t have a lot of time!
