Route Description for Sheep Lake Trail
Sheep Lake Trail is a fairly easy hike that takes you underneath Deadwood Peak to a cute lake in the mountains. The route follows a portion of the PCT. The Sheep Lake Trail sits near the border with Mount Rainier National Park, so you’ll enjoy the summer wildflowers so renowned in the park on this hike.
Begin from the trailhead, hiking parallel to the highway for a stretch. The elevation gain is very gradual. The trail pulls away from the road and meanders towards Sheep Lake, losing a bit of elevation. You can look all the way around Sheep Lake before retracing your steps or finding a good spot to set up your tent.
