Route Description for Jesusita Trail
This well-revered trail makes for an amazing day of hiking. Explore the expansive meadowlands, lush coastal forests, and charming creeks. As this route travels over several terrains, it is important to wear a sturdy pair of footwear on to safely navigate the rocky and often slippery terrain. Additionally, as this trail is shared, it is important to be mindful of bikers passing by. Note there is poison oak that flanks sections of the path—if you are concerned about exposure, wear long pants!
Your journey along the Jesusita Trail begins from the trailhead off San Roque Road. From here, wander north along the chaparral bound trail over San Roque Creek. Running parallel to the gurgling stream, the Jesusita Trail will eventually divert northeastwardly, passing through a gate where there is also a water fountain. Beyond this point, the intensity of the climb will increase, demanding the navigation of the rocky terrain. Mind your footing and take your time maneuvering the winding path.
Following the Jesusita Trail, you will ultimately reach Inspiration Point. Revel in the panoramic views of encompassing mountains, the cityscape of Santa Barbara and the Pacific. After marveling at the scenery, retrace your footing down the path back to the trailhead.
