You’ll begin your tour with an early morning meeting in Canmore to check your gear and prepare for the trip ahead. Drive to the trailhead and spend the morning hiking through the Mosquito Creek Valley before ascending to Quartzite Col. Here you’ll get your first peeks of Mount Willingdon.
Descend steeply into the Siffleur Valley, where you’ll camp surrounded by rolling meadows near one of the Devon Lakes.
Today is the day! Get an early start on a beautiful trail that passes Devon Lake to ascend Mount Willingdon. The route isn’t technically difficult, but there is some exposure and light scrambling required. You’ll crest the West Ridge to reach the summit, where you’ll be met with incredible views over the nearby icefield, Clearwater Mountain, and Mount Crown.
If the conditions allow and you’re interested, you can traverse to Mount Crown at nearly 11,000 feet. To end the day, descend back down to camp feeling incredibly accomplished.
Enjoy your last morning on the trail, breaking camp and setting out over Clearwater Pass and through the valley and col to the trailhead.
