Ride at your own pace through Poland’s lake district
Masuria, also called “the land of a thousand lakes,” is a charming district of Poland and the setting for the Masurian Lakeland Self-Guided Bike Tour. Characteristic of this area are gentle hills and mighty dark forests, which cover almost 30% of Masuria. Above all, the lakes have shaped the face of Masuria. The largest is called Śniardwy and is a Masurian Sea with an area of 110 square kilometers. You’ll ride from lake to lake, stopping to swim or fish where you please. Enjoy a relaxed paddling tour and an organ concert to add depth to your biking adventures.
All in all, Masuria is a paradise for cycling, fishing enthusiasts, paddlers and sailors. Experience Masuria!
Individual arrival to Giżycko area by bus/ train/ your own car. A representative will meet you late in the afternoon to prepare you for the tour.
Today you cycle through the Masurian Lake District. From the large bridge connecting lakes Mamry and Dargin you have a marvelous view over the lake district. You will reach Sztynort and have a look at the ruins of the manor house of the East-Prussian family of Lehndorff built in 1680. The old park was landscaped then, the oak alley planted and the cloister built of Ionic columns. You cycle through an old oak alley. Then, it was a custom to plant an oak tree for each child of the Lehndorff family. Today, all this is regarded as a monument of culture. At the end of today’s journey, you reach Węgorzewo, where a nice hotel awaits you.
After breakfast you start your cycling tour to Kętrzyn. On your way you will pass many picturesque villages where the silence is interrupted only by the stork rattling. On your way, in Gierłoż, you can tour the famous “Wolf’s lair” – Adolf Hitler’s headquarters during World War II (optional).
After breakfast, you start your cycling tour to Reszel. You cycle through the beautifully situated village Ryn, where you can visit the restored Teutonic castle. On the way, pass Święta Lipka, where you can visit the baroque church from the 17th century and enjoy a short organ concert in the church (optional).
In the evening you reach Reszel, where you can feel like travelling back in time to the Middle Ages.
Today’s tour leads through the Masurian Landscape Park, a beautiful, well-known forest area in Poland. There are 850 different plants and 150 different birds to be found there (e.g., eagles, black storks, owls, herons). Pay attention to see if you can spot a lynx, beaver, or a deer crossing your path!
Today you can go paddling on the Krutynia river. No additional skills are required to paddle on this 90 cm-deep river. In the afternoon you have time for your leisure. At the end of the day, enjoy a farewell bonfire and dinner.
To avoid the crowded roads today you take a beautiful cruise on the Masurian lakes. The cruise is a beautiful experience, which is highly suitable for exploring the district. It will start in Mikołajki, a picturesque port called “the Masurian Venice” by its inhabitants, and ends in Gizycko. You’ll end the tour here and depart at your leisure.

I’ve been using 10Adventures route guides for a while, but had never booked a tour. My wife and I booked a self-guided hike in Greece and were so impressed with how we were able navigate the route without a guide with the detailed and easy to follow itinerary. We enjoy travelling independently, and 10Adventures made that happen.

I’ve adventured around a lot of Canada and the US, but I’ve always wanted to explore other parts of the world. I felt a bit scared before booking my trip to Israel, but my conversations with the team at 10Adventures helped ease any worry. I can’t wait to explore more of the world!

Travel companies have had to go through a lot during the pandemic but 10Adventures were super flexible and accommodating nonetheless. I had to cancel my tour in France due to the pandemic. 10Adventures was great and let me reschedule for a later date!

My wife Sarah and I had a great experience booking our 7-day cycling trip through Portugal via 10Adventures. The communication between us and Nadine leading up the trip was top-notch!

Communicating with 10Adventures feels like talking with a family-run business. I love to explore and travel, and exploring with the comfort of knowing I can talk to the team at 10Adventures with almost immediate feedback helps to ease any stress that comes with adventuring!

Whenever I’m looking for my next adventure 10Adventures never fails. Their routes all over England are my main go to for exploring and I have only had great experiences booking both guided and self-guided trips in Europe and South America with them. I am looking into Africa next.

I just got back from backpacking in the Sierra Nevada, and WOW. What an unreal journey! The alpine meadows, waterfalls, and the lakeside camping spot were memorable highlights! I wonder what other tours 10Adventures has to offer. That one went so well that I am now convinced I need to book another!

I'm not a big fan of traveling because of my fear of flying, but my girlfriend convinced me to go on the Aurora Borealis Tour in the Yukon. I will never forget the mesmerizing northern lights. Such a romantic (and cold) getaway. I would highly recommend it.

Wow! I am so happy with the experience I had with booking through 10Adventures for my tour in Italy! I worked with Nadine and she was super easy-going and helpful when it came to tweaking the itinerary provided on the website. 10/10 would book through 10Adventures again.
