For the most ideal conditions and arguably the best views, head out in July and August when high-altitude trails are mostly cleared of snow, the threat of avalanches has decreased, and the vibrant wildflowers are in bloom. Additionally, summer excursions present awesome backpacking, rock climbing, mountain biking, and aquatic recreation opportunities.
Winter expeditions into the Sawatch Mountain Range are treacherous, but arguably more exciting.
